// Meet the Northern Lights Strengths Deck //
This deck, the Northern Light Strengths Deck – to be released in 2025, is built on the findings of the rigorous science of positive psychology. Contrary to what many imagine, this is a field of lab research, of testing and retesting and data. It is also built on the tradition and practice of Nordic folk spirituality, often belittled like the old women carrying this wisdom.
In this way it is created to embrace many perspectives – that which is coded male as well as that which is coded female, the rigorous and the expansive, science and imagination. You are invited to take control of this tool and use it in the ways it best serves your path. Sometimes this might mean leaning into the science, other times into the spiritual or the visual or the intuitive.
My day job is at one of Europe’s largest research institutes, where I’m surrounded by the belief systems of logic and of the secular. It is amazing, being embedded in the depths and breadth of insight representing many different fields, and I am proud to be a part of furthering knowledge for positive societal transformation.
But it also has its limits, which is why I have also embraced the practice of tarot and hedge witches and the folklore of my native lands at the edge of the Arctic in northern Scandinavia. This allows me to add layers of unknown, of intuition and faith. It creates a space of freedom and power, very precious for a woman graying and growing invisible, a space expanding beyond the boundaries of the patriarchal and internalized limits of the society I inhabit.
The Northern Lights Strengths Deck is a blend of these two worlds, science and magic. I hope it will bring you ways of embracing both.
